I've just noticed the petrol models use a slightly larger fuel tank to the diesel ones, does anyone have any idea how easy it would be to swap them to give my DT a bit more range?

I don't see a problem physically, I reckon the difficulty might be in the electronics, getting the car to recognise the larger tank and adjust the figures accordingly.

All suggestions welcome.

hi

i am not sure but i cant see Range Rover designing a different fuel tank if the same one could fit all models, so i am guessing something underneath will be in the way or it could be just to leave clearence for the prop shaft, get the tape measure out,

as for the electronics as long as the diesel fuel sender unit touches the bottom of the fuel tank i dont see a problem

Hi. I don`t have an answer, just another question: are you sure the tanks fitted to both models are different? The books say the petrol & diesel cars have different capacities, but could this be due to the different plumbing systems?? Suggest you check out parts numbers for the tanks on different fuel types.
