Not that anyone is probably anywhere near as intereste din this as me but im going to shout it out anyway!
I managed to get my first ever Landrover (that i have wanted for many many years) through its first mot under my ownership! And i am very proud of myself!
So story is if you dont know i purchased a 1990 110 csw/utility with a 200tdi disco conversion in her....that the wife and kids affectionately?named "Tank" !she has literally been around the world (i found half of it inside the chassis rails!) and it was local to me and i only paid 1K for her and she even had a few months mot!so i ran it for a while whilst eagerly beavering away at the many many faults that i have since found to be the norm when owning a landrover! There was no way she would EVER have passed another mot so once the old one had run out i set about borrowing a welder...getting some steel (and much much more as it turns out!) and got on with nursing her back to health, preferably ready for this winter.
So xmas came and went, along with the new year and i spent many many hours grinding,welding...bit more grinding....and a bit more.....painting and teh rest.finally i felt it was mot time but alas she failed first time around....uneven braking across rear axle and hole in the shock turret!not bad considering.
So i just happened to have purchased some little used es9000 procomp shock completed with terrafirma skeletal turrets and some free terrafirma rear expedition shocks thrown in and order some shiny new brake shoes, pistons and pipes along with front callipers, discs, pipes, pads etc and a new master cylinder.
Took her back today and passed with flying colours!!!!!!! Sooooooo happy!
Took great pride in the fact that i had never welded before, just got taught the basics and principles from a engineer in work (who kindly lended me the welder along with gas and a 15kg reel of wire!) and the tested commented that i have a "sound truck there" and that "its had a bit of welding but looks to have been a good job done"!!!
So just wanted to say that anyone with some basic skills and ability to absorb knowledge and listen to others can and should have a go at anything, all those hours on the drive in the wind and rain finally feel like they have paid off.I cant wait to just spend some time driving her now!Constantly looking for a reason to just go out!
And a big thankyou to all you guys who answer technical questions that are posted on here...they really are useful and i know i have learnt alot from this forum..even if people (like me) dont always post replies it is appreciated!
There is so much still to do and i cant wait to actually start doing it!cant say i could feel the same way about the modern german family wagon!
Im hoping to start posting some of the pics i have taken along the way so keep posted!

Like the repair on those C-pillars, I attempted the same but gave in and bought the YRM replacements. Had the whole side frames off so had them galved. And without sounding like a smart-arse, what are you doing about your chassis number? That's some serious rot there.
