guys/gals, all you people trying to get parts shifted round the uk, should check out sifting stuff via search engines for todays modern parcel courier companies, like the one i use, its great if you have a PARCEL2GO.COMpany then enter the parameters, and you will be quite amazed at how cheap stuff is to be both collected, and delivered. For instance, if you buy a set of wheels, and they are 100miles away its a nightmare cost, -- not really, treat each wheel as a separate item, if the wheel and tyre are around 60cms, (most are, and they dont exactly measure them, they trust you!) then you are allowed up to 30kg per item, ie per wheel, at £7 a wheel, so £28 for a set of four, collected, delivered, to your door! why even waste your own time and fuel, i have had all sorts of stuff moved, exhausts, seats, tailgates. even a v8 engine and box, strapped to one pallet, from scotland to london, was about £60, brought into your garden, no crane needed. you can do whole car interiors as long as you get them to not overhang the 1m perimeter too much, ie send the rear seat cushions separate! you just need the sender to be aware, to stick a webpage printout that you email him, when organising collection with the parcel details on it with the special barcode, you can then track it on your emails, in the pub.
the days of me travelling round the counties, on saturdays, looking in yards, wading through puddles, dodging barking dogs, and grease everywhere are long gone. i buy stuff on well used internet auction sites, in my lunchour or via online advertising, via specialist trader websites. We agree a pick up day, I pay the courier company via paypal, or visa, then watch it go through various emails telling me when it was picked up, then when it goes out for delivery, ie 48 hrs service, and ding-dong, here it is. if the part fails to fix the fault, say an ecu, then it goes back on auction again, -a little postage lost, but no tools out, no fuel cost, and taking it off yourself, only to be charged a premium price 'plus the VAT mate' at the exit of the yard whilst standing in a puddle, covered in muck. there are some exceptions, ie gas cylinders, perhaps airbags, fueltanks, but they only know if you tell them. forget parcelforce, and DHL depots, use the online versions of those companies, VIA A COURIER FINDING SERVICE, you will be amazed, and you can do all manner of other jobs, like watching football while the service bring the goods.
