It's been a while!
I have just got myself 110 XS 38k miles. I use to have a 90XS. I'm currently in Wales, lots of hills!! I'm finding that 5th gear is what is getting me up most of them. Is this normal? Also I'm not 100% sure but it feels like I'm driving with the handbrake slightly on. I'm not loosing any power what so ever and gets up to 80mph no problem. No smoke either. Do the 110's feel like this or it's just the Welsh hills?! 1st to 4th are quick gear changes.
Thank you.

6th gear is very high on the tdci and the engine still has only about 120bhp. In fact l think even 5th gear is higher than 5th on a TD5.

A remap will probably transform it.

Hey guys thank you. I'll take it up there today :)

Looks like I'm just paranoid then! Can someone please explain remapping to me? I hear this all the time but never had it done to any of my Land Rovers.

You are not alone in your paranoia!

Whenever I hear a new sound I then think the car is underperforming or feeing rough or not handling the same!

It's just the nature of being a Defender owner!

With remapping the settings in the engine management are altered to allow the engine to deliver more power and torque.

The remap company will plug in a computer to your vehicle and reprogram it.

Generally you also get better economy under normal driving as well, because the engine is more efficient at normal speeds.

Speak to Mike at Dynachip, he gets good reviews on here. He will come to your home and charges less for the remap than most.
He'll go out with you in the Defender after he's remapped it to make sure you are happy with it.
if there are any issues (such as too much smoke) he'll adjust it.

Lightning, do you have a number for him?

I'm not loosing any power and I've gone from a Disco 4 back to a defender!

I'll have a chat with him anyway

Thank you
