Painting a S3

Our swb S3 has got hand painted front wings/bonnet and front panel. The brush marks are like tram lines on the crawler lane of the M62. Its falking off the bonnet aswell.
I dont want to do a pro looking respray, just want to be able to park it without people looking at the wings and thinking that I let the kids paint it instead of fooking up the kitchen table with their painting books.
Ordinarilly I would just have rubbed it down, high build primer, base coated and top coat. However, I heard that it is possible to get paint that you can apply by brush but preferably, roller, which is self flattening.
I dont know if this is correct or not and not sure where to find the colour code (or if its just land rover green?)
What procedures do I need to follow i.e primers etc (if required) and painting by hand? Can I rub it down and paint without having to use an etch primer? or do I just live with it and think what the hell!

600 grade wet and dry, if you got through to bare metal you will have to spot prime those bits, mini foam roller will do the job fine, brushing enamal is available from craddocks, just keep laying it off gently until the bubbles are gone.

Thanks for that, what about the colour though, is it just a standard colour I would ask for, perhaps specific to year (72) or is there just one type of green cause I want it to look reasonably similar to the rest of the motor.

Don't go for enamel if your planning to do any offroading in it. You can't TCut it.

Why go to all the agro, rub down, prime, paint etc....

DULUX gloss, apply with a foam roller, good finish, who gives a toss if it gets scratched down a lane/bog, just repaint. easy...

And Yes I did do mine wiv Dulux....

Like the sound of that! may have trouble getting a paint match though and I dont fancy having to do the whole motor. From one of the above links, I reckon ours is Lincoln Green as its a 72. (I may be wrong though)

IF you can take something small from the Landy, take it to Homebase, they can match any colour with a special machine, which can then mix that colour...
