So I decided to touch up the scratches on my Montpelier Red (claret) P38 today using some Land Rover branded touch up + lacquer bottles, paint code 536.

The scratches/spots are down to the white Aluminium and unable to find any decent instructions on prepping specifically ali body scratches I went ahead and degreased, washed and carefully filled the lines. Naturally though I went over the existing pain (the brush isn't that small), but regardless the paint is so damn dark purple it's as obvious to me as the white was before. I know the paint will have faded over 20 years but not this much? otherwise there's little damn point in selling the kits!

I'm crap at bodywork, I'm not afraid to admit. I'd rather leave rubbing down to someone else but if I have to on my own vehicle I will with some (hopefully) sound advise. The first time I sprayed my own vehicle (following 'sound' advice) the silver metallic coat fish-eyed and then the lacquer turned it a light shade of pink. o_O

Can someone please reassure me and talk me through it, or advise me that the paint is mixed badly? I'll get a picture up tomorrow to show the monstrosity.
