Hi I have just bought a P38 4.0, and i'm looking for a haynes repair manual/service book, as i want to do a bit of work on my beast myself.

IE it has the cruise control button on the steering wheel but it doesnt have the button on the dash to turn it on so want to check what i need to do to fix this. also want to know how to check if i have the wiring for electric seats as i want to renew the interior.

Any Ideas where i can get a book?

Download RAVE the LR service manual, much better than Haynes who do not do a P38 manual as far as I'm aware. Do a search on RAVE (Not a Google search) and you will find links to the download.

Not as easy to do as you seem to think. The Cruise Control if not fitted requires an ECU, as do the electric seats, all of which has to communicate with the BECM computer below the drivers seat, which requires programming so it knows what electrical items it has to control. If you have a low spec P38 with the low line BECM you can't do this. Assuming you have a high line BECM, to program it you'll need a full diagnostic system such as Faultmate from Blackbox Solutions.
