Right another problem.

my rear wash isn't working - well it is but not properly! Wiper all ok.

The motor is working away but no water is coming out the other end.

I have checked the nozzle and the tubing on the tailgate - all ok, tube clear but bone dry.

Thought - give up for today, put car back out of way, get on with some work.

When I moved the car there's a lovely puddle of screen wash water on the floor beneath the drain of the spare wheel recess.

Now looks as though the problem is a broken tube somewhere in the rear of the car.

So, my questions: can someone tell me the route the rear washer tubing takes at the rear of the car and how big a pain is this going to be to correct? Its seems to be coming from behind the CD changer and what the big black box thing is on top (it's not part of the changer.....is it!!!)

Thanks

Steve

Found it!

Decided to dive into getting to the bottom of the problem.

Took the CD changer out and the thingy I think is some kind of base box.

Took all the rear passenger/boot interior bits out.

...And there it was, the tubing feeding the rear wash, hanging there, with a connector bit and nothing else. So every time I tested the rear wash I filled up the rear of the car a little more!!

But could I find the other end? Now where to be seen. Took the rear passenger interior pillar covering off. Nothing. Managed to tease the head lining off enough to finally locate the tubing.

Some idiot must have cut over 2ft of the tubing off and left it tucked in the headlining.

Well at least i now now, just got to replace the tubing. Anyone know where i can get some?

So for future reference the rear wash tubing runs up the rear passenger pillar, across the roof to the point where it comes out to go into the tailgate.

Right what's next? The headlight washer/wipers - no water, not wiping!!!

Some previous owner idiot did that to the Astra estate I used to have - I was just as puzzled as to why. In the end I gave up and cut it off at the reservoir so it just drained into the engine bay if I caught the switch inadvertently. Wouldn't do that to my Rangey though; I'd be sorting it out like you are... keep attacking; your descriptions are brill, and very helpful so far :)

If not wiping and not squirting and not running motors when button is pressed and fuse is ok, likely to be wiper stalk fault (not to be confused with stork that delivers babies in basket on doorstep ). I got replacement from breakers for £10. There is usually plenty on ebay. Forget dealers, silly money. :)

All fixed now. Got a length of tubing locally for £2. The fun bit was testing the wash worked correctly - operated the button water sot out, missed the rear window completely but managed to hit the garage door, 6ft away!!!! Slight adjustment ensued!!!

Whilst putting all the interior back, found that the CD and woofer wires were frayed because the same idiot must have fiddled with them as well!

Anyway, a quick cut, remake, solder and heat sheathing sorted the problem.

All snuggly and dry now!!!

Look carefully at the tailgate glass and you will see a small red cross (+) on the glass. This is the "Target" for where the water jet should hit the glass...adjust the nozzle with a needle to suit.
