You could try a squirt of brake cleaner into the air filter box. If it runs temporarily then you know it's not a timing issue. Just be careful as it is a dry fuel that'll clack the crap out of the engine briefly. If it won't come to life with the brake cleaner then a timing issue could be at hand!! ;)

Hi Mark, yeah, I’ve done that already and it will run……..which has just made me realise that the FIP is probably ok

It has nowt to do with the fip unfortunately, it just proves the timing chains haven't let go. If the pump has failed it'll need pulling out and then sent off to a specialist to check its functionality. ;)

Bugger! I’ll try not to dwell on the worst case scenario’s and start fresh tomorrow!
What mileage is on the car?
You could do with a dedicated code reader/diagnostic tool as well. Just in general it can help with a lot of issues that can arise. Good luck and keep us informed :)

No messages on the dash?
Fuel at the injectors requires to stop solenoid activated and the mobilisation code, as the car was running at the time of failure, I would say that eliminated the mobilisation code.
I would look at the crank sensor because if the EDC does not see the crank rotating, it aint going to squirt fuel in.

+1.

Has crabk sensor been checked yet?

DO NOT MOVE the bracket.

Think if i mind right crank chain turns fip sprocket ,which is connected to the rear chain going to camshaft ,if this middle sprocket has lost grip with pump shaft it will run on gas but the pump wont be pumping at any or ,,correct time,,,Thats if the pump sprocket is a one piece supporting both chains....
