Folks,

Any ideas on the following?

V reg 4.0 P38 with the digital HEVAC unit showing the warning symbol suggesting something is up. The unit is right as around March time the blowers stopped working. The HEVAC unit was swapped out for a new unit, but no change resulted and so the original was put back again.

When I put 12v directly into the blowers they fire up without any trouble but they don't when instructed to do so by the control on the HEVAC unit.

I have inspected the fuses, relays and have had the fuse box apart and there is no sign of any components burning out. Continuity tests on the circuit also appear successful. The only other thing that I noted was that the fans (assuming linked to the A/C system) behind the front grille also don't move at all.

Any thoughts or pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated?

Cheers,

Magoo

Hi Magoo, My fans stopped working and it tracked down to the relays. They were a bit brown around the edges, but when swapped it fired up no problem. Sometimes they heatup and cook.

Hi Bob,

Unfortunately I've already swapped out the relays and checked the fusebox etc for burning out. This was a hint that I found on the rangerovers.net website.

I'm now convinced that the heatsink and circuit board in the back of the motor is at fault. I'm not sure if there's a resistor/capacitor in there that's failing but am trying to source another couple of working motors to try....landrover will let me have them for £500 but I reckon that's to much of a gamble....especially if it doesn't cure it!
