Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum but on my 3rd Range Rover now. Had the usual air bubbles in the clear fuel pipe at the FIP and cleared that by doing the usual cut out in the boot floor. This one was a slugged up gauze filter at the pick up. The pump pipes checked out fine.

When all this happened last night at a 1/4 tank fuel level she coughed and spluttered like no tomorrow but the tank pump clean fixed the bubbles and the cutting out. While all this was going on the engine (injector) light came on and has stayed on. The car this is totally gutless nowto the point where she struggles on inclines.

I'll change the fuel filter tomorrow but has anyone had this before and did the filter change clear it?

Look at number four injector.

Sounds like you have the dreaded bacterial growth in the tank. Change the oil filter for starters, but it may have got as far as the injectors. As Wammers said number 4 injector is the most likely to be the trouble. Get some anti bacterial additive for the tank and run some injector cleaner through it. Might be a good idea to get it onto the diagnostics to have the fault codes read which would confirm if there is a problem with number 4.

Hi Datatek / Wammers

Sorry for the late response, I was due on holiday (and made it!). I was onto the contamination theme as you could see anyway. I did the tank cleaner and also took it to a friend who has Auto Logic (I'm in the trade).

The code was showing up for the needle lift sensor in the 4th injector as suspected and it required a change. A 10 mile trip see Joe Emmott in Colne got me one and it has cleared the diag lamp issue.

I'm still not happy with the running although it towed my 1500Kg van to Wales and back OK. It could be a Bio fuel issue sludging the tank pump back up, are there any preferred cleaners for this stuff that have been tried and tested? Now I've got more time on my hands, I'll also run a check on the output for the in tank pump. I'd expect a good healthy flow from this pump but have you any flow rate figures on what output should be?
