Morning all,
Having done a few google searches on this subject I see several references to throttle position sensors and worn stops in the fuel pump etc but I can't differentiate between those problems and the problems I am experiencing so I thought it would be better to start from scratch.
Every now and again the throttle on my p38 diesel auto will stop working. The revs will die back to idle speed and the engine will keep running then, sooner or later, the throttle will start working again of its own accord. Usually within a few seconds. I can usually kick the throttle into life more quickly if I select neutral then put it back into drive but that isn't always necessary. Whenever this happens the check engine "injector spray" light comes on the dash but goes out when the throttle starts working again. This problem has only ever occurred at speeds of 50mph and up. I've never known it happen at low speed.
Although this problem was regularly occuring when I was running on 100% mineral diesel I have recently started using 50/50 veg oil and diesel and have found the problem to be a little bit more common. No doubt thats due to the increased viscosity of the fuel so perhaps that will give a clue as to where the problem is.
I did try some injector cleaner in it but that didn't make any difference. Does anyone have any suggestions?
P.S I'm in Warwickshire should anyone be able to suggest someone with diagnostics.
