To be fair lets mention some others, shall we? There is also Hawkeye marketed by Bearmach and made by Omitec, makers of the original dealer tool called T4. Which is also available to buy but can be expensive. Then there is Autologic which is as comprehensive as any out there, one of the easiest to use and very well supported. Its not cheap but on the other hand its not restricted like the Faultmate where you have to buy each diagnostic module separately and Blackbox locks it to a single vehicle VIN so you can't lend it to a mate. Unless you pay a lot more. And most recently RSW (of free EAS software fame) has launched a broad-spectrum LR diagnostic called All Comms. P38 capability on this at the moment is limited but coming soon. Here you only pay for the hardware, the software and any patches or updates are free for life.

Colin from bbs is an anally retentive convicted criminal and royally screwed a nanocom customer on here when he acquired nanocom.

there was a rovacom on ebay recently. it didn't have all the modules so I glanced through the bbs site to see if they could be purchased and guess what, its all faultmate modules at the new prices. so much for supporting their earlier products and rather strengthens my impression that the only "upgrade" between rovacom and faultmate is that they added the VIN locking.

But none of them as far as I'm aware allow direct access to the BECM.

I've used Autologic for reprogramming bits in the BECM that even T4 won't access. Can't at the moment think of anything at all that I wanted to do but couldn't.

Is that what they cost now? Much less when a few of us chipped in and got one a few years ago. We still get updates and support too.
