Which of you hombres was it that works for LDV?

Want to know if you can get the tin hat that goes on the propshaft before
you fit the centre prop support bearing as a separate part?

I can easily get the bearing (6009-2RS), and for about a quarter of the
price of buying the whole thing complete with housing.

The process of removing the bearing form the shaft seems to knacker the tin
hat comprehensively, or at least, I've never found a way of doing it
without. The other end is easy, of course...

Mind, since the bearing is sealed, in theory, it shouldn't need tin hats...
since the tin hat doesn't constitute anything meaningful in the way of a
seal, the sort of small grit that can damage the seals and knacker the
bearing will probably get in anyway. I spose the tin hat prevents bigger
bits hitting it.

coo. I'll give it a go.

Discovered the other day that Iveco van wheels are (some of 'em) 5x16" and
have similar offset and the same centre hole and stud spacing.. This is
interesting, I've been toying with putting the bus on 16" wheels to improve
the ride over bumpy roads (i.e. all of 'em). The only thing that's
different is the lack of a chamfer - Ivecos use the other sort of wheelnuts.
However, it shouldn't be impossible to chamfer the holes suitably - easier
than the opposite conversion.

Now all I have to do is find 6 of 'em... local tyre bloke has 3 and one
that's a 5.5x16 and different offset.
