been thinkin over the last few weeks, what to do with it, my intention was from the begining to have a 100 % ish genuine series 2 88"

but what keeps them original , am buying a new chassis as i want it to last for ever,

the body , i presume after a lot of checking colours and how its fixed etc, the fixings and wiring look original,

so the back arches are bent and the floors / bulkhead behind seats is buggered , do i replace them with ones of the same year, or any ser 2, or do i repair them and beet them flat again ??

same with the cab and roof??

what keeps them original ??

Thats a tough one, but if it looks and sounds original than thats probably enough.

If you have the skill and time to beat your panels back to shape then that for me is better, a lot of my panels have big holes and the aluminium is split in a lot of places. and someone has cut bigger holes for extra fuel tanks.

All the small dents in the panels are part of its character.

I like yourself i want it to last for the rest of my life time so will replace what has to be replaced and keep what i can, but i can't say what has or has not already been renewed.

I just want mine to look like the day it rolled of the production line (with a different colour) and i will be happy.

And recycling parts from other land rovers is envronmental friendly

Yeh sticking Defender bits on it would be a big no no. New parts is fine but donor parts from vehicles the same age would be better.

yeah , i want a NEW series 2a, like it come off the production line,

i recon parts of the same age is the way foreward

am gunna repair me doors, and strip the skins off them and beet them straight again , just ordered a hundred quids woth of hammers and dollies for panell beeting , so i hope i can get the hang of it

I'd personally say replacing with new replica parts is all ok (i.e. galv chassis, new series doors, etc.) but agree as soon as you start using parts designed for other vehicles it looses the originality.

i just had the idea from the begining that it would of been nice to have a totaly original , ie every bit, but things never work that way , i should kno be now
