Hi All,

I have just purchased a very nice 1968 Series 2 soft top. Some thing is puzzling me with regards to the electrics, after opening the bonnet I found the original -Earth sign has been scratched out and it is now + earth. Why would anybody want to change the polarity of a vehicle. I have a lot of history of the vehicle, but cannot find why this took place, any thoughts on the subject would be helpful in the restoration.

change from dynamo to alternator perhaps?

Early versions where +v earth but this increased the rate of corrosion so design was changed to -ve earth.
I would be wanting -ve if restoring.
