opening rear door

on opening the door it freely moves to about a third of the way open, then it feels as if it needs a good tug to fully open?
is it a quick fix with WD40, or is it worst like an internal gas ram rod thingey?

if u look under the door u will see a gas strut, sounds like that is faulty, disconnect it to rule out the hinges etc

id be looking at the strut underneath the door im a sod for not having the door all the way open and over time its going to jam up id take the strut off maybe stand it on end and spray some penetrating oil in the top and after so long refit and try oping the door a few times to free it up
