If you have had the valve block apart, either solenoids on the the wrong position or the pipes are in the wrong ports, the back normally raises first.

Could be. I always either remove and replace one at a time if the block is clean, or number them and the block if I remove all.

I did number them but could have got those 2 wrong
Rear always rises first. If one side goes up you have solenoid coils on wrong. You are feeding one rear and one front.

8 mm to drier, yes it should have a collet.
