Wow! Like many others I assumed mine was safe having gone on for so many miles and been well serviced. Is there a thread anywhere on here to find out how to check/do this? I note the one on the pressure sensor ^. I take it sump removal is an early part of it. Do you simply replace the bolt with a new one and some Loctite or can you just clean up the old one,Loctite it and put it back in?

Yep, has been discussed on here many times, here is the link for you, worth reading his whole site at some point.

Thanks Neilly and Backinblack. I think checking this might also give me the chance to do something about the sump plug which refuses to budge without huge risk to the sump itself. I've been changing the oil by sucking/syphoning the old stuff out of the dipstick tube, which is a bit of a pain, although a surprisingly clean way of doing it.

It's just occurred to me that when I bought my Disco it came with very little paperwork (normal for over here) so I'm wondering if the oil pump bolt has already been checked by the PO.
I'll find out on Thursday anyway, and at least I'll know that is has definitely been done.
