Hi

I made a mistake and did not take note of the oil cooler piping from the
filter housing on my ser III 2,25 petrol during my engine removal.
Can anyone tell me whether the fitting from the adaptor between oil filter
and engine block should face up or down. (can go both ways)
This fitting joins to the pipe feeding the oil cooler.
Also : I noticed when I opened my oil pump, that the relief valve ball
was missing so I fitted a new ball from an old bearing. Have much better
oil pressure but I later read in the Haynes book that when a oil cooler is
fitted to the system, a new plunger and spring are supplied to fit the
relief valve in oil pump. There is no mention of the ball however.
Can anyone spread a little light on the matter please.

Cheers
James

James

I have got the official fitting instruction for this unit - or at least
the one used on the Series IIA.

I can't remember the detail so will have to read up on it. This may now
be after Christmas. I'll do you an Acrobat copy.

Your e-mail address looks as though it will work. Let me know if I
should send it somewhere else.

David

I will be assembling tonight (South Africa Time) so I would prefer to know
before then, Thanks anyways.

The pars book shows it pointing down.

There's no mention of this in the parts book, perhaps they are really
meaning one of the two relief valves included in the oil cooler kit?
Just a thought...
