Hi again, following on from my previous post with the td5 disco temp gauge I may have found the problem. The warning light I thought was low water in radiater is actually excessive water in diesel/ diesel filter.

So what do i do with a full tank of diesel, can i change the filter easily and more importantly would this allow the engine to run hotter hence the temp gauge going up.

getting desperate now, holiday looms

Not an expert on TD5's but I wouldn't have thought the problem will be with the fuel tank most diesels have a seperator to remove the water from the diesel, usually located near the tank. this is probably full and will just need draining. Try getting a manual If you don't have one Google for it there are loads of sites where you can download one.

Yor filter is under the o/s rear wheel arch, unplug the wiring, unscrew the filter, separate the bolw from the filter (unscrew) and replace the filter.
Fill the filter with diesel before re-fitting, switch the ingition on and listen for the fuel pump running. When it stops, depress the throttle pedal 5 times to the floor, you engine management light will start flashing and the pump will re-start, purging the air from the system. Repeat 2 or 3 times to make sure.
