Been using the 90 today winching logs out of a dingle...and my winch seems to be making lots of noises it didn't before. Haven't done any serious winching with it since owning either.

Its a Warn 9.5xp, with 100ft of plasma rope on. When winching in or out, at any load it makes a clicking noise, almost like the contactors are chattering? I have no idea what it is though. And when winching under load, seems awfully slow

Also where do people buy replacement Warn parts from?

thanks

Dodgy solinoid pack? Dodgy remote? Bad ground? Could be alsorts, low line winches are slow, but 2 good battery's and correct wiring make a massive diffrence.

What warrior said, but also check the batteries you're using and whether they're getting full charge. Esoecially check any earth connections.

is it a loud clack or a quieter clicking?

If the previous then id say you have a loose connection somewhere and its the motor stopping/starting as it looses power.

If its a quieter constant click then it could at best be your drum catching every revolution or at worst it could be our planetary gears.

Take it apart if i were you.

Has 2 brand new odyssey (spelling?) Dry cell batteries, a master switch on the dash and an in/out rocker switch in there as well as the remote. Now you say it, it is more of a clack but its fairly quiet. Can hear it with the window open and engine running, just about.

Is it rhythmical or once in a while?

Continuous while the winch is operating. Got the day off work today so a stripdown could be in order

No news yet. Not got round to stripping it down yet. Bought a 12 ton snatch block last week, and was using it today. Much less strain on the winch, very impressed with todays usage. the clackclackclack during operation is coming from the control box though.

A couple of months back I had the winch apart due to the free spool/thingy lever being jammed. Turned out it had made a groove in the drum A short time later with a file and it was sorted. Greased the whole thing up and applied more grease to the gears. This all looked fine back then

The control box will be the solenoid. You will more than likely know more when you strip it down.

If its a cheap jobbie IE not an Albright/Durite then its most probably got water logged.

I have a superwinch version of the Albright and a cheep copy Albright inside for my rear winch both have Been good.
