Well I have finally taken the plunge and got a pair of new wishbones and associated bushes to try and eliminate this infernal knocking. Was underneath it at the weekend and managed to move most of the bolts apart from the front wishbone to subframe as I ain't managed to get the engine undertray off yet.I want to replace all the nuts and bolts as I go but till I get them out Dont know what size they are and then I Dont have my wheels to go get new ones. Can any kind soul tell me what I need I've done a search but not got any answers. Thanks in advance

cheers for the replies. i actually ment the bolts for the wishbones though i am still non the wiser though i do know the part no's but not actually what they are so i cant go to my nut and bolt shop.

Make sure you get high tensile bolts, not the usual 8.8 grade but either 10.9 or 12.9 grades.
When you remove the undertray it should be possible to measure the length of the bolts and the diameter can be calculated from the nut size...e.g. M10 nut=17mm spanner, M12 nut=19mm spanner.

If you meant the undertray bolts:

from
Freelander engine undertray.

2 phillips screws in the bumper.

1 13mm bolt on each side of front cross member. ( some had 2 bolts on each side)

2 13mm bolts on both sides of rear of front subframe.

2 10mm screws on rear of pan to subframe.

Nice thread on this, nice pics from Hippo on page 3

The bolt sizes you have given are not quite correct, they are spanner sizes !!
For standard hex head bolts, M6=10mm spanner, M8=13mm spanner

Thanks. I learned something new ! Even though I live in a metric country (Canada) bolts and screws are almost all standard size at the hardware store so all I knew was the bolt hex size for the wrench.
