But not a manly defender. She really does like the Range Rover. However, I thought they were quite unreliable and then costly for repairs/servicing?!?

We're looking at about £10k. I know nothing of the other LRs so what would be best, Range Rover for that price or a decent disco?!?

Cheers

You could buy a semi decent RR late model classic circa 1990's. Just be careful what you buy. A straight model is still a lot of landy.

Hmmmm, unfortunately she likes the new shape.

No accounting for taste, but then it's each to his/her own.
It's most important that you go into this with your eyes wide open (sounds obvious but......) Unlike Defenders, designed as workhorses, all models of RR were aimed at well-heeled owners & require even greater levels of maintenance as they get older. In the case of later models their rapidly reducing market value tempts owners to skimp on upkeep, something that you are likely to inherit. The least complicated (& some say built with better quality steel) are the pre '89 Classics that, apart from the EFI system, are mechanically not that far removed from a defender & as an added bonus good classics are rare & an appreciating asset.
