No ideas here but interested to see what people have got. I have a disco fan housing but it's the same size as the entire defender unit so can't see it being much use. I considered mounting either a very long and narrow or multiple small matrixs (or should that be matri?) inside the lower dash thingy but other than that no ideas. Can't afford a fancy webasto jobbie.

There's not much room for anything much bigger, but the design is so ancient it should be easy to improve it's performance. Replace the fan with a 4" bilge blower, don't make the casing out of steel, seal everything up properly. I'd like to take the heater out of an old merc or saab and see how it works - they are bloody brilliant.

Ive often thought what you need is an aftermarket heater blower assy mounted into a 4 inch tall box which would be fitted underneath the cubby box, so it draws in cold air from behind the seats and blows lovely hot air where you need it.
This kind of thing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-3Kw-Car...aab8d88&pid=100008&rk=5&rkt=6&sd=281888994616
Biggest issue especially with the colder running diesels is going to be getting enough to the heater to make it effective

Erberspacher airtronic under the passenger seat. You can even get a remote so you can set it off from the bedroom window. Toasty and frost free before you have even brushed your teeth.

I orften laugh when I hear cars and remote controls - A colleague from the US Air Force fitted an auto start to his Honda Civic. It was recommended not ideal for a manual, but then you cannot educate these Merkin types. Anyhow, one morning from his dorm in the fire station he auto starts his car as its cold, only to hear it crash into the Chevy Blazer in front, not just once, but continually until both cars are written off. The owner of the Blazer was a very large African American Staff Sergeant in the US Army who was consequently attending anger management therapy...

I see a lot of heater threads and have to agree with the fact that it's poop however I sealed mine up with new seals to bulkhead ect and it really does blow lovely and warm a few miles up the road. I did flush the matrix out at the same time maybe that helped?
