Hi
My first Dicovery was the TDi, I then traded it in for a 1 year old TD5 in 2006.
13months on, a new engine was needed at a cost of 3000.00.
We have had a succession of problems but, in the last two years it has behaved itself.
This week however, the Auxillary belt came off resulting in heavy steering and stamping on the breaks. Luckily I was driving and not my wife.
After the car was recovered and looking in the engine, first fear was the Alternator was shot as there was too much play, on closer inspection the mounting bracket or bolt had sheared off due to the Auxilary belt.
My question if anyone can answer it, is:
Does the TD5 have a top bracket for the alternator as my brother has the exact same model, and his has the top bracket!
We are both in agreement that when the engine was changed this top bracket was not fitted so myself and my wife have been driving it around for the last several years without said bracket, does it need this bracket?????
