some where over the rainbow
further to previous queries, undid the bleed niple on fuel filter and pumped lift pump by hand but no presure building up to pump fuel out of the bleed screw.
but once got started still runs fine, could the pump be no good/ on way out etc?
could this be the cause of the unwillingness to start first thing.(but starts on just a touch once started all day long)
would this also cause the ticking sound i have on that side of the engine bay?
would be greatfull of any responce
cheers markw

Your lift pump will only pump by hand when the lever inside is NOT pressed in by the camshaft. It isn't easy to tell this, BUT, as all 4 cylinder engines stop in one of only two positions of the flywheel (thus crank and cam) , then it just happens that GENERALLY in a Landy engine it stops WITH THE INNER PUMP LEVER PRESSED IN. Bummer .... just bad luck really.

The way to make progress is to rotate the engine about a QUARTER of a turn.

Then the pump lever will feel different to your fingers, and it will start pumping for you.
