No engine numbers..!!

Had a visit off my mate tonight who has just had a 300tdi fitted into his 1991 90 and he wanted to know where he engine numbers were so he cud contact DVLA and update the logbook.

There arent any numbers on it.....!!

So we went to th pub to discuss the matter.....as you do.



He has an invoice for the work from the bloke who did it and thinks the bloke is genuine...(a friend of a friend etc)..but he's unsure what to do next.

Does he confront the bloke or contact the police.?

I said go to the bloke first and see what he has to say...difficult one really......i think he's been sold a bad one.....but have never been in his situation so would appreciate a bit of advice that i can pass onto him.

recon motors tend not to have an engine number especially if it's a recon block..I wouldn't panic.

If the engine's a good un why worry. If it's an oil burnin old rattler have it out with the bloke he got it off

if there aint an engine no on it just get a set of punches and put yer original on it

send the v5 away with N/A down for the engine number.
my engine had no number and this is what the dvla told me to do , they then sent me my v5 back with a new number on it.
