Hi guys. I'm Malcolm from Monmouth, South Wales. No Landy yet, but I'm lurking and learning here. I have images in my head of my perfect Landy, but there are so many of them it's hard to decide what I'm going to go with in the end.
I'd like to do a bit of green landing and also some wild camping (which I do now), so a vehicle that does both is what I'll be aiming at probably. A lightly modded 90 Defender is most likely, but I'm not averse to a modded Series III.
I saw an article once (Land Rover Owner?) about a coil-sprung Series I, station wagon, Safari roof, 200Tdi.
Grey, black Defender arches. That's my ideal, old looks, but capable of daily use.

Hi Malc,

Welcome to the loonyzone,

If you want that ideal then I hope you have a deeeeeeeeeeep wallet.
Plus a 90 from my POV, is not really useful as a wail camper unless you are a real shorty suitable for sleeping.

there are a lot of peeps using D1 and D2 for wild camping.

Cheers

Hi Neil. What makes you say a 90 ain't big enough? When I go rough camping, I take a small saw, knife, axe, sleeping bag, sometimes hammock or tent. Other than food (and booze!), don't KNEED anything else. A 90 will hold a fair few extras for comfort on longer trips!
OK, I'm a fat, lazy git and don't want to walk, so chucking my gear in a Landy and driving off into the sunset, appeals to me. I'll have to sell my 3.2 V6 Audi TT Roadster to fund a Defender, but, who knows, I might sell the wife and kids into slavery for the Series I.......
