Hi all,

after several months thinking about it and much reading of your excellent forums (I'd have joined before, but I never had a question that someone else hadn't already asked), I just bought my first landie :D Its a '95 defender 300 tdi hard top, ex-fire brigade, slightly battered but low mileage and well looked after.

I'm planning to use the defender for camping, so I'd be interested in any pointers on defender campervans. I've done a fair bit of camping with cars, but the defender is a chance to fit the bits into/onto the vehicle instead of packing it all into the boot/roof box/back seat and unpacking and repacking it every stop. I'm thinking about a roofrack tent and/or awning, extra battery, gas ring, sink, water heater and showerhead, bunk, preferably all installed so that they can be easily removed to use in the tent or to use the van as a van. I'll post about the bits separately later.

In the meantime, if anyone knows any nice off-road tracks in within an hour or two of Glasgow - preferably west fo the city - please get in touch.

orrabest,
Rod
