Hi! First time poster here! (sorry if it's in the wrong section)

I've got a 2002 l322 td6 range rover. I've had it for a year and it's been excellent for the past 15000 miles until yesterday.

Drove the car 100 odd miles down to Devon no problems. Parked the car up and when I came back to start it 20mins later I was greeted with tons of white smoke from the exhausts.

The turbo stills kicks in although it seems intermittent (haven't driven it more than 100 yards due to the smoke), the car is also making a weird noise (whooshing/whine) when being revved.

The smoke doesn't have an eggy smell (is more a burnt type of smell)

Water and oil levels are fine, and it hasn't/isn't over heating. Recently had the air con rad and thermostat changed although it's been fine for 500 miles after that work. However I can see some random plugs and pipes that seem to be disconnected (photos below).

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Not sure if this is supposed to have anything attached to it?

Thanks again.

Had the car with a mechanic today. He's changed the a filter within the "oil depression control valve" which he's says was clogged and causing oil to get into the exhaust. Now the smoke has reduced but the car is now making a really strong whining noise and the turbo isn't kicking in at all. Any ideas? I'm hoping it isn't the turbo itself 😯

Sounds like you might have a boost pressure leak from the turbo pipework or a leaking intercooler. That will give you a whooshing sound as the turbo kicks in.

The pipes you see are probably gearbox / front axle breather. Many models have spare connectors floating around depending on what options are/are not fitted.
