wasn't overly amused by BBC webnews headline which highlighted the fact that
the government in the USofA, godblessit, had ante'd up $350M. OK, fair
enough, but the headline seemed (to me) to be emphasising the source and
amount rather than the aid, and for one of the world's richest countries,
$350M ain't that much, either, considering how much the US gets from that
part of the world in normal circs., and how much said governement is
prepared to spend "dealing" with a regime it don't like the flavour of.
meanwhile, a collection tin at the archery shoot I went to yesterday (summat
a bit over 100 people) raised over 100 quid just by being there on the
registration desk.
