Hi

I am now on my third series Land Rover and 1 50th anniversary discovery.
Unfortunately I found the discovery a fantastic vehicle but no match the 7 1/2 ton lorry who use you as a brake, which ended that vehicle.
My first Land Rover was a 1969 109 Safari, 2.6 straight six engine. My second was a 1966 short wheelbase 2 1/4 petrol unfortunately worked shift and didn't use it for three months so had to sell it.
About 18 months/2 years ago.
I purchased my car Land Rover which is a 1960 series 2 model registered in November 1959 2 1/4 petrol. Which one I purchased looked like a reject from Dakari. Yes it was black and white striped with an exhaust coming out of the passenger wing. I have worked on it and taken it back to the chassis where the rear quarter was replaced vote every panel down and repainted it in marine blue (age consistent colour). As part of the rebuild it had complete new brake system, complete new clutch and a complete new wiring loom. Coupler quirks are found because she's an early model when the water pump went head to get it refurbished and couldn't get replacement I know you can get 7 and 9 stud water pumps but I needed an 8 stud, things like that really make you think. Believe the engine and everything is the same year as the vehicle.
Recently got her back on the road and did a couple of test drives, noticed that there is a dead spot on accelerator. Believed it was good idea to get my work checked over by a qualified mechanic for me peace of mind. And that's where things started going wrong.
Firstly carburettors extremely worn and thought the head gasket had gone but this turned out to be one of the solid bungs in the head itself which is being sent away as I write this.
Now to sort the carburettor out and this is where I'm in two minds what to do so some input would be nice and if you have a half decent carburettor or even a decent one please let me know.

Or a Weber? Nice job you've done with the landy. S2's don't get much mention it's usually the 2a's.
