New to the scene and help would be greatly appreciated

I'm looking at a getting started with a Defender 90 and thought this would be a great place to start.

I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help me with some suggestions as to where to look - I am based in the Thames Valley area.

Ebay and Gumtree obviously, Autotrader, the classifieds in all the LR mags. That will give you a range of possibilities and you can see the difference between dealer and private sales.
Assuming you are really interested in independent land rover specialists the Thames Valley is reasonably well served. Dunsfold, Foley, Frogs Island, Harris Mayes, Kings Langley Land Rover, Thame Land Rover, Mark Smith could all be good starting points ?
