Hi there everyone. I am new to the forum, just signed up as I have recently got myself a Series 2 SWB pics below. This is my third Land Rover about 20 years ago I had a couple of Series 3s but new family meant a sensible family car for a bit (although for a few years in between I did succumb to a 1978 VW Bay Window Camper).
Shes (Is it ok for Landies to have a gender?) a 1966, 2.25 petrol. I think she is poss ex military, Im told clues like a removable crossmember under the gearbox and the multi-position ignition switch are clues. On the outside shes very scruffy, a dent in every panel and brush-painted but underneath very solid. In the few weeks weve had her Ive done a few small jobs including replacing the ignition components, fuel pump, relocated the battery from under the passenger seat to under the bonnet as well as little fettling jobs such as tidying up cable runs and replacing the horrid and broken wing mirror with a correct period one. Shes running very well right now and its great to be out in the sun with the roof off, and we get plenty of smiles as we trundle along. I cant see me changing the outward appearance as although its tatty, she looks good and also lives on the street if it was all shiney and new Id be stressing everytime someone walked passed my camper was forever getting keyed by jealous / ignorant fools.
Really pleased to be back in the Land Rover fraternity and hope to be able to contribute to the forum, as well as drawing on all of your valuable expertise!!!
