2002 auto td4. Power steering heavy when idle but fine as soon as i put my foot on the throttle? can you help?

check the power steering fluid in the resi , fan belt for tightness .

Fluid and belt fine? any more ideas?

sounds terminal in either the pump or steering box then if the hoses are'nt leaking
could be air in the system i spose jack the whole front end off the deck start it up and turn wheel lock to lock repeatedly then check the resi see if its dropped at all

Only advice a can give you ,,,is get rid o it before its to late,,,

Thanks, its still under warrenty so will take it back and get them to sort it. Just didnt want to go in blind and them tell me a load or crap. You know what these garages are like, anything to not spend money on you.

best of fookin luck mate hope your stealers are better than my local 1 they've had mine (90) twice (2 days each time ) 3 differant problems the ecu box letting in water (so they drilled holes in it! to let the water out) throttle controler faulty and the drivers side wiper arm weak spring and they've replaced the wiper arm ! :doh:

Write down or better still print out a list of items which require rectification Keep a copy and when you collect the vehicle after repairs ask the person handing over the vehicle to initial each item which has been rectified. Documentation is vital when dealing with car warranties. Good luck.D..

All done on warrenty, it was the pump, thanks for all your help
