Hi,

Heres an odd one for yers, so any advise would be much ppreciated.
So Ive bought another discovery (95) from a dealer, was driving it on the 4th day when all of a sudden...Crap ive no steering !!! Narrowly avoiding what could have been a nasty accident aswell . had her towed, 3 days later had the steering box replaced but now she aint startn. mechanic guy says shes turning over but not fireing, not pumpn diesil and yappn about the glow plugs and says come back on monday, my bigger problem being I wont have a job by monday without the car.

He insists its not the imobiliser, could he have done something to damage my baby while changing the steering box? She was working perfectly before this work was carried out. can anyone tell me how exactly does the imobiliser imobilise a landy? ive only just taught of resetting the imobilser using the turn the key sequenses so might go down in the morning and try it for myself.

Thanks in advance

so yer bought a car off a stealer and after 4 days the steering failed?
ffs, he should be fallin over himself ter give yer a courtesy car and keep yer sweet, so that yer dunt go ter Trading Standards and report him!

yep, 4 days and I didnt even get a chance to dirty it or take any pictures

Was on the fone to the stealer today, he contacted both myself and the mechanic (of a different company) and its looking like I can return it if the cars a dud without any problems, im a bit gutted actually because its a real beuty of a disco. Just not working is all :p

Oh and would you believe the tow truck guy had left the landy outside the random mechanics with keys in it, I had no say in where it was to be deliverd to, then nobody knew where the car was left until next mid day after a dump load of phonecalls. Irish services are a complete disaster zone!

Just an update if anyones botherd, Steering box replaced but the so called mechanic chopped off the alarm/imobiliser instead of waiting til I gave him the reset code. Thats an extra 200 euro for that privalige anyways. 1000 euro in total :( then to be told to "F off your not gettn your car" cause i was a bit short of the bill. Wont be goin back there again
