I just returned from examining, and purchasing, a 2000 P38! I've been shopping for several months (impending arrival of very large dog dictating a change of auto) and reviewed all the forum had to offer. I narrowed the search to late model--1999 to 2001--cars, and pretty much limited to LPG-converted cars as well, with leather interiors and air suspension intact.

The car I got is rather nice, I think. It has 62,000 miles on it, only 8K of those in the last four years. The very complete service history includes a full main service yesterday (£425 and, really, unnecessary as it had the scheduled main service in November), replacing all fluids and filters and checking everything. It had new brakes in November along with new suspension air spring bags.

It was more than I wanted to pay, but the car is virtually unmarked and largely undriven, without any faults at all. It still has the LPG system under warranty. It's even the green-over-cream color combination I preferred!

Having relied on the forum for the many threads of advice and what to watch for in a purchase, I am very glad I joined the list BEFORE I bought. My only concern is that, now that I have it, I shall fall prey to the multitude of idiosyncratic frustrations that have been described here, either electronic or mechanical!

It's really great, though. I'm going to pick it up next week (have to sell the current saloon first).
