New & need advice

Hello all, I am new here & have not yet picked up the rover because I am scared to death of what the mechanics & other people have told me. I worked out a great deal on a 2003 Range Rover that I am suppose to pay for & pick up tomorrow. However everyone says run. Can anyone give me some advice on what I am getting into to? I will be using it for work and some travel (about 5 hours) away maybe 4 times a year. I have a 2 yr. old so need something reliable. I love the look, but have been nothing but discourage by people. Of course all 4 owners I have talked to say they have not had problems, electrical, diff. or major other than one owner that said they fixed the head gasket (about $2000.00) two days ago. I will not have a car note, however very scared about the responses. Thanks for any advice before I spend the money.
