Hi
Neil in deepest Suffolk.
Long time LR owner and lurker here.
We have a few Landies in our household - 2004 Disco II TD5 Landmark (my daily drive), couple of Freelanders (2002 5 door 'hippo' - my student sons, 2013 Series 2 B&W - my wife's) and once more my Series 3 SWB station wagon.
I first had the SW in 1995 but sold it in 1998, but bought it back a year later and did full ground up restoration with HD galvanised chassis, rust free military bulkhead, 2.5 petrol motor, ex-MOD recon box, Fairey overdrive, etc, etc.
I also fitted parabolic springs with Koni shocks and the TI console (as was) front disc conversion from Chris Perfect when he was trading in LRO. It was pretty quick, had decent ride, good grip (BFG KOs) and stopped very rapidly when required. We used it daily to good effect with x4 children in 5 point harnesses in the 4 inward facing seats.
After buying a Freelander 1 for my wife (we had a SII V8 manual Disco then too) and growing family I sold the S3 to a friend on the basis of first refusal if he ever wanted to move it on (he has a big garage of vehicles).
So now it is back! However he only used it sporadically and as a result the disc brakes had seized and one of the FWH (Selectro) was bashed and has broken springs.
Most of it I am trying to remember all the details but thankfully I am generous with spring washers and coppaslip so most of it is coming apart well, all oils replaced, linkages greased etc.
I will post specific links to my problems (worn discs, broken Selectro FWH and finding one of the three 3rd/4th synchro springs in the gearbox drain plug) on new threads and hope to get the advice of members here.
