I bought a 1989 "90" a couple of weeks ago ... no MOT so I knew it was going to be a bit of a project, but I drove it about 100 miles home, wasn't too bad, brakes a bit weak. It's got a 300TDi engine in it though which runs very nicely.

Poking around underneath revealed a fair amount of rust on the rear member, so I decided to bite the bullet and chop it off. (Cue lots of jokes about chopping yer member off etc etc).

Blagged a bottle of argon from my neighbour (very useful chap!) and welded a new one on. Welding upside down under a landy is not exactly fun, molten metal running down yer sleeve, burning the hair of your chest, you get the idea :D

About 100 metres of MIG wire and a splish of Hammerite later, it looks like new :D Apart from the chicken-poo welds, ahem.

And then thanks to information on this very site (here) l, I fixed the brakes before work this morning, someone had fitted the return springs on the rear shoes wrongly. MOT during the morning, I'm on the road :)

So, hello, by the way :D

why is it i can never find neighbours who just hapen to have a spare bottle of argon?

Is it because they haven't found out yet that you 'borrowed' their spare one already, last time you needed one Ormus?
