Just fitted a new lift pump and couldn't get it to bleed with the lever but will if turned by the crank.have I done something wrong?

Are you sure you are not just repeatedly stopping on the cam? I've needed to pulse the engine multiple times before to get it to stop in the right place.

I always screw the filter on loosely, and then pump till fuel drips, then tighten. Engine then starts no different from normal.

Tdi engines are self priming so it'll start anyway just might need a bit of cranking on the starter ;)

Agreed - It always amazes me how tolerant the Bosch VE FIP is of air. (up to a point of course ) But, I am always pretty grateful too... cos ....:-

This works! in complete contrast to daughters Focus, which is a complete PITA:mad::mad::mad::rolleyes:

Just ran some diesel purge through clear pipe to a jam jar and the return flow was full of tiny bubbles made the purge in the jar go misty is this normal?

If you have been messing with the system, then possibly so.

If it runs fine, run it and either re-check in a week, or conclude that its running fine, and dont look for any more faults... : )
