New here.....with a low ratio problem

Hi all,

New to Series ownership. Have an '83 88 Petrol. A hardtop with Fairey and fairly standard. Decent runner with MOT, no advisories etc. Myself and my son (15 - the mechanical brains of the outfit) have so far:

• Changed main box, transfer box and Fairey oil
• Changed F & R diff oil
• Topped up steering relay oil and checked steering box oil
• Refitted middle seat.

Basic stuff but have enjoyed it so far.

Our first problem is we just can't engage low ration on the red knob. We can get neutral easily and back into high with some effort. Just won't go into low, however. What should we be trying next please?
