Hi all,

Having spent many hours and evenings scouring the masses of info on this site, I finally bought a 2003 FL1 TD4 on saturday and have to say, I'm/we're (not forgetting Mrs.wlshyd) made up with it. Having toyed with the idea of getting the MY15 Audi A6 Avant, my mileage just is nowhere near the levels annually to warrant spending £35k and the point of life I am at, I just don't want the overheads right now. We have twin daughters who are 2 so clearly, something rugged and spacious is important for us but also it's just a bit of fun compared to the usual dross on sale in the family sector for minimal budget.

The car - originally a demo with LR up in the Lakes, it was a demo from Sept 03 until June 04, and the same guy that bought it from LR owned it until only a month or so ago when I found it. 102k on the clock (other than a bit of wear on the seats, interior suggests less than half that mileage), nav, heated leather, silver 5dr. We have a Mondeo Titanium X as the existing main family wagon (phenomenal car) and the LR is meant to be a back up for that.

Having had about 20 tabs from this site open on my iPad getting a 'priority action list' together, looks to me like EGR and PCV mods are top of the bill from a mechanical perspective. The car does have two small electrical issues whereby the central locking will lock the car but won't open the driver's side, and the motor is whirring but not actually moving the driver's rear window. Any help of advice on either of these is much appreciated, though expect a quick search will provide fruitful just haven't had time yet.

Anyway - wanted to say hello and that there'll be lots more of me around here in future :)

Also wanted to say that the standard of genuine, high-quality posts on here seems to be excellent. Have been (or being) a member of forums for just about every vehicle I have owned, it's nice to be somewhere where (from what I can see save for the odd numpty) actual, useful answers are given and discussed as opposed to conversations descend into fanboy slagging and trolling.

Cheers
Dan
