well, after my previous post and some careful deliberation, i went out and part-ex'd the moneypit that was my freelander for another moneypit in the form of a 95 disco 300tdi!!!!

wot ave i done!

its olive green wiv 122k, factory towbar and an aftermarket webasto sunroof so no leaks, all electrics work, its in good condition wiv some rusty bits here and there but nothing my mate can't weld!!
only problem is that the reverse lights dont always stop on-new switch required i think, and the difflock lever needs a bit of fettling-it goes in ok but is a bit sloppy and don't like coming out!!
gonna order an egr blank off ebay and sort a decat pipe out and get some recovery rings-cant wait to get her offroad and muddy
lets hope i have less problems than wiv the hippo!

Nice one, I bet you've got a huge grin on now:D

You could try tapping the gear lever back slightly, but a switch is cheap enough, no more than 20 quid.

am well chuffed wiv it. wish we'd bought a disco to start wiv!!!

ave sorted the difflock out-looks like a previous owner has changed the pin thingy for a nut and bolt at end of the shaft(with the lever on) n it came loose-cleaned and greased everywhere n used same bolt but wiv a new nyloc on n its a lot better now. also changed all those rivets for self tappers so its easier next time i need to get under there!!

i'll get a switch off ebay when i get round to it-fink they bout a tenner on there

now its fixed i really need to go n get muddy!!

I got one from my local indie the other week for £4.50, try paddocks think they're 5 or 6 quid on there. easy job to do aswell.

Glad you're liking the disco mate. :welcome:
