Hi folks,
Just bought my first Landy (Disco 2 Metropolis TD5 Auto) as a daily driver and looking for any help on maintenance etc.
I’m a complete newbie when it comes to mechanical maintenance having always had my cars looked after by garages. Approaching 40 and want to learn some practical car skills and use the disco to take my son camping.
Are there any folks in the Leicester area that would be willing to swing on by with help and advice? Looking to do my first service of the disco next weekend, I think I’ve got all the necessary parts and tools (all the gear but no idea) but really lack confidence.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Western, Planning on doing all fluids and filters and taking off the XYZ switch to clean it (M & S lights popping up and going into limp mode often)

You need RAVE. It is on here somewhere.

Good car to learn on.

Good luck!
My Range Rover (which is the same car basically as a Disco) is the easiest and nicest car to work on I've had, or worked on for others.
As much use as a manual is, there are a few YouTube channels that are great if you struggle to convert written instructions or diagrams into practical application.
This one has a series called The Fine Art of Landrover Maintenance, and used to be exclusively about Land Rovers but has broadened out: https://youtube.com/user/trailerfitter2
And Mike is fantastic, he pretty much exclusively works on Land Rovers, and he's generally quite responsive if you've got a tricky issue the forum can't help with: https://youtube.com/c/BritannicaRestorations
