Hello just got myself a p reg tdi 300.

Convinced the wife i needed a new car to go fishing in and she went for it :D

But it is a disco so comes with problems. This is my first post to seek assistnce/advice form other owners.

1. The leaky sunrrof. Leaks on the inside down the front passanger door pillar.

2. Light in the automatic gear selector not working.

3. And this is the big one. It is wallowy at the rear (i know its a landie) but i have seen lots of posts about various bushes and as it has done 97,000 i was think of replcing the lot as this is going to have to last me. Now for the crux of the matter. I havee seen variuos kits. One site with three different ride options on the bushes for £100. or the cheap replacement set for £57. Is there much of a difference ?? How hard is it to replace the set. I have no specialist tools but have a reasonable selction and am middling at DIY mechanics having repaired a few for my dad.

Welcome to the nuthouse! :welcome2:

Have a search in the discovery section, you should find a wealth of information on sorting this issue!

2. Light in the automatic gear selector not working.

Assuming it's just the lamp, the surround should clip off (stretch front to back) and you'll see two wires heading underneath the selector follow these to find the lampholder.

I'm not entirely sure on this one, but someone will no doubt be along soon who knows - in the meantime a Q that should help their diagnosis, Do you have air suspension???

Just realised - td5 300!!!! I'll assume from the age you mean TDi 300, in which case you'll have coils not airbags!

Dunno abut the sunroof or autobox, my 300 Tdi has neither, so have a search on the forum, both subjects are well-covered.

For bushes I would honestly recommend OEM, original fit, standard black rubber bushes rather than polybushes. Do it now and they'll last another 90k+ miles, swap to polys and you'll do it again in 10 - 20k ish .. especially if you 'get the bug' and start off-roading anywhere near muddy water etc.

Are the bushes apig of a job or relatively straight forwrd. sort of convinced myself to do them and the rear shocks but do i need any special tools/knowledge or will the haynes manual i have ordered suffcie.

Generally somewhere between p1ss easy and a right bastid of a job ... ;)

I've never used anything more special for fitting them than a decent vice, made up drifts and sockets/washers/big nuts!!

... and washing up liquid or 'proper' rubber lubricant. ;)
