Hi there.all new to me this.got my 1st land rover-freelander 2.o td4 05.well chuffed.had it a week came with full tank of fuel!one problem i hope someone can help me with.if i start it up just after glow light goes out the fuel needle goes to full,it then may very slowly come down after a few miles-if i wait for fuel gauge to move thn stop, then start it up,it will go to 3/4 full.which one to i trust?:confused:it always goes bk to zero whn i turn it off.Are fuel gauge problems a fault with this model?thanks all for your help..

Mine very rarely shows the same after a short run it can somtimes show a difference of 1/4 of a tank....you'll have to live with it. When the orange low fuel light comes on make sure you fill up within about 30miles.

Yes I noticed the same but as was already said if orange light comes on you have about 30miles
As you had a full tank how many miles did you get before you refuelled it. This will give you a good idea of your mpg and how much fuel you really have

Same fuel gauge problem with my 2005 TD4, starts at full then drops to 3/4 after a couple of miles or starts at 3/4 and then moves to full (many variations as amount decreases).

Just to set your mind at rest mines an '05 TD4 as well. First 150m on a full tank the needle never drops below full. Then it swiftly moves to 3/4 and so on. I average 34mpg.

When you see the warning light get some fuel quick, manual says a few litres, forget the old rule of thumb 2 gallons. 30 miles to empty is about right but you don't want to go there.

thanks will see what happens.only shorts trips at mo,so mpg is low, would be pleased to get 34mpg!what miles do you people out there get out of a tank full?
