Hello all. New to all this. Just got a Defender 300 tdi ex national grid. what i would like to know is. 1. The best place to get checker plate. I need to block up the side small door flaps that the grid used to store there LPG tanks in. 2. Can i cut it myself or is it better to get some one to Lazar cut it. 3. what is the best way to fix it on the Landy.

Thanks in advance.

oh and welcome to the nut house ..... we're all a bit fick in ere .....

Most metal stockists will sell you a sheet - try google or yell.com
You can cut it with a jigsaw fitted with a metal cutting blade, then clean up the edges with a file.
Fix it with 4mm pop rivets.

But, chequer plate is naff.

realise it's not the greatest stuff in the known universe but what else can i cover the little doors up with. They look like they are about to fall off any way. ?

ok no so no responses. was just driving down to devon in the 110 and waved at a 90 coming the other way on the a361 and the lass driving flashed me. only a defender would you be going slow enough to see. oh what a life.

cover em wiv plain ally sheet, then paint it ter match the rest of yer landy.
that'll look much betterer than fookin chequer plate.
