becaus my 90 td5 had a rubbing noise on the drivers side wheel, it went back in to the garage and the mechanic said it was in the CV joint inside the swivel housing i think.
he also said something about hub and catipillar?.
he told me he put a litre of oil in there.
it didnt sound right to me, i thought they just had grease but im just learning about this stuff so dont now.
anyway he now says hes getting some one shot and draining the oil saturday.

my question is will the oil contaminate any seals or will it be ok to just drain the oil and put the one shot in..

Mate, a pal had a Patriot Jeep with exactly the same symptoms and it WAS the CV/swivel. Was repaired under warranty as this is a problem with these vehicles. I took a wee drive in it to diagnose before the garage diagnosis. You should note more of a sound when you turn into the particular joint eg sharply at road junctions - you might even get a bit of a thump. Hope this helps.
I've got One Shot and I'm just draining the oil and pumping in the shot in my 90, which also recently had a cv joint replaced.
